2012 Hawaiʻi Physician’s Workforce Summit: Implementing Patient Centered Medical Home

Dr. Deborah Birkmire-Peters, Program Director, PBTRC was invited to arrange a session on Telehealth for the 2012 Hawaiʻi Physician’s Workforce Summit: Implementing Patient Centered Medical Home on April 14, 2012. Presentations in the session were as follows:

  • Dr. Birkmire-Peters, Program Director, PBTRC, gave a presentation entitled “Telehealth for Hawaiʻi: An Overview.” Topics covered included reimbursement, credentialing and privileging, insurance and licensure, and the Telehealth Resource Center program and services.
  • Dr. Larry Carter, Advisory Board Member, PBTRC, gave a presentation entitled “Telecare and You.” The presentation covered remote monitoring and the Maui AgeWave project for home monitoring of elderly patients.
  • Dr. Joe Humphry, Co-Principal Investigator, PBTRC, gave a presentation entitled “Telehealth: The Only Option for the PCMH in Rural Hawaiʻi.” Topics covered were the Patient Centered Medical Home and mHealth.
