On August 18, 2015, the Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center hosted a Telehealth Roundtable, along with other telehealth leaders in the State of Hawaii, and met with Dr. Aimee Grace, Legislative Assistant for Health and Melika Carroll, Policy Adviser for Telecommunications of Senator Brian Schtaz’s Office to discuss the status of telehealth in Hawaii, challenges and barriers, federal initiatives, and future opportunities for change.

White Paper – Advancing Telehealth in Hawaii: Issues and Challenges

The Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center (PBTRC) recently put together a Telehealth White Paper with contributions from key telehealth stakeholders, outlining the issues, challenges, and barriers facing telehealth adoption in Hawaii. The White Paper, titled Advancing Telehealth in Hawaii: Issues and Challenges, addresses issues such as reimbursement policy (Medicare, Medicaid, Private Payers), malpractice coverage for telehealth, and licensing.
