Sometimes, the first step toward better health doesn’t happen in a doctor’s office.
It happens in a break room.
Recently, the PBTRC team, in partnership with Pili Ola, visited a local workplace to provide a workshop focused on preventive health, digital literacy, and telehealth. Employees learned practical ways to stay healthy, navigate today’s healthcare system, and use technology to make healthcare more accessible.

When the workshop ended, one employee stayed behind to ask a few questions during a one-on-one conversation with a Digital Navigator.
For years, finding a primary care provider had remained on the “I’ll get to it someday” list. Long shifts, busy schedules, and simply not knowing where to begin made it easy to keep putting it off.
During that 30-minute conversation, everything changed.
Together, they found a primary care provider accepting new patients, completed the new patient registration paperwork, and scheduled the employee’s very first appointment with a primary care provider.
What had remained unfinished for years was finally done before the employee returned to work.
The employee didn’t leave with another brochure or another phone number to call later.
They left with an appointment.
A plan.
A connection to ongoing care.
That’s what digital navigation is all about.
Sometimes the greatest barrier isn’t distance or technology. It’s having someone beside you to answer questions, simplify the process, and help you take that first step.
Could your workplace be next?
PBTRC, in partnership with Pili Ola, offers workplace workshops that combine preventive health education, digital literacy, telehealth support, and one-on-one navigation to help employees connect with the care they need.
If you’re interested in bringing a workshop to your organization, we’d love to hear from you.
